STURDY SAFE FIRE LINER INFO:

fire gun safe cut out

3 "of 2300° Ceramic Wool & 1000° High Temp Glass

Sturdy Gun Safes uses 2300 degree U.L. listed ceramic wool, and U.L. listed 1000 degree high temperature glass blankets to line the fireproof safes. We feature 3 " of fire liner for the top, bottom and door of the safes, and 3" of insulator compressed to 2" for each wall to prevent the material from shaking downward. This insulator duo is designed to keep heat out with the virtually the same engineering used to keep heat in around extreme heat ovens and kilns. This true insulator is not cheap, and will not loose structural integrity even after a fire. It can easily be fitted into the tightest of places without having open seam problems.

16-14 Gauge Inside Steel Liner

Our fire insulator liner is perfectly compressed with a heavy, inside steel liner. This adds to the gauge thickness of the body and door. It also adds more strength in the shelving because it's not just drilled into weak Sheetrock covered with a felt liner. Safes already in stock will have a 14 gauge liner, but the newer built safes will have a combination of 16 gauge for the walls and door, as well as, 14 gauge for the top and bottom.

Fire Safe

Fire Insulating Is An Option

Fire resistant insulation is not for everyone. People with good response times with the fire department don't necessarily need to pay for ceramic fire lined gun safes.

The Whole Safe Is Lined

The top, bottom, door and walls of the safes are fire lined the same way. Most safe companies who use ceramic fire liners just line the top or bottom of the safes, or, they don't line the doors. This is due to the high costs of the ceramic material.

Fire Safes

We fire line more than the door with ceramic and high temp glass, we line the whole safe, the exact same way.

Double The Fire Protection Option

There is no better fireproof gun safe protection for the money available on the market than this one. 4" for the top and bottom of the safe, and 6" compressed to 4" for the walls and door. The body of the safe will have 2 blankets of high temperature glass along with 2 blankets of ceramic wool. The top and bottom of the safe will have 4 blankets of high temperature glass along with 4 blankets of ceramic wool. This is especially designed for those who live near high burn locations, with low response times to the fire department.

Our Lifetime Fire Warranty

If one had a Sturdy Fire Safe and they fell victim of a fire, Sturdy Safe will fix the burned safe to new condition, or replace the fire safe, free of charge. Freight and locksmith charges included.

Custom Fit Door Gasket

Sturdy Fire Safes uses 3M FireStop, that is then covered by a custom fit fire proof safe gasket. This boiler gasket is designed for high temp ovens and kilns. The 3M FireStop is designed to prevent the spread of fire, smoke, toxic fumes and moisture for up to four hours and expands several times it's normal capacity, starting at 180 degrees. A custom fit fire gasket is important for a fireproof safe when comparing it to cheaper priced Palusol because clearance between the door and the door seat of any fire safe body on the market cannot be made to fit exactly the same every time. Basically, a one sized gasket cannot fit all safes perfectly. Our fire gasket fits against the door perfectly every time, without leaving gaps, or needing to be heated up first.

Gun Safe Some safe companies test their fire proof safes in controlled testing furnaces, which perform like oversized house ovens, yet get a lot hotter than your normal oven. These safe companies eliminate 2 important factors when testing their Sheetrock lined safes to get those ratings: 1st. Point Of No Return, and 2nd. Cool Down Time... >> Read More

WHY MOST FIRE SAFE INSULATORS DON'T WORK GOOD ENOUGH:

Gun Safes

Sheetrock / Fire Board

Regardless of their fire ratings, they will not perform as claimed. To understand how fire testing facilities get those ratings (assuming they didn't make up a rating) you must understand how the fire safe test is done. UL doesn't even bother FIRE testing safes lined with fire board. >> Read More

Fire Safe

2300 Degree Ceramic

Even though this material is the best fire insulator, the problem lies in the manufacturer not giving you enough of it. Some do as little as line the top of the safe only, due to it's high costs. >> Read More

Fire Safes

PyroBlock Board

The only difference from PyroBlock and regular fire board is the .015 to .005 thick fire retardant barrier they apply to one side of the board. It's not designed to insulate objects, and will perform as poorly as regular fire board in a safe, because it's not designed to be an insulator. >> Read More

Safes

DryLight / "Cement" Composite

It's not really cement. UL actually gives decent FIRE ratings to smaller fire safes (over 6" thick) lined with this, however, those "UL Listed Fire Safes" are not built the same as gun safes who are using this as an insulator. It's a cheap material, it doesn't add any strength to the steel and they don't list a fire rating any better than fire board in gun safes using it. >> Read More

STURDY GUN SAFE IN AN ACCIDENTAL BURN DOWN:

Gun Safe

Video Of The Safe At The Burn Down Site

Gun SafesSturdy Safe customer named Stan had his house unexpectedly burn to the ground. He and his family are safe, but most of his house was lost. Stan and the firemen agreed the fire blazed for 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Fire SafeOur standard 3627-6 fireproof safe was one of the few things left standing.
We were there for the opening of the safe. The dial and paint had melted off. The body of the fire safe was warped due to the extreme heat.

Fire SafesBefore the opening of our safe, the fire chief told Stan he has never seen a fireproof gun safe make it through total burn downs. However, he didn't understand that this was a commercial safe stuffed with ceramic and high temperature glass. It went through the fire with success, and after seeing the results, some of the firemen who reported to that blaze, bought Sturdy fire safes.

SafesThe fire resistant safe was opened and inside were irreplaceable paper documents, cash, guns and ammo all in great condition! This was a two engine response fire, so all firemen involved were witnesses to the burn down. 6 people, including Stan were witnesses to the onsite opening of the safe.
