Sturdy Gun Safe’s Heavy Duty Safe Line starts with .22" thick steel bodies (including the top and bottom) — equivalent to a heavy 4 gauge — providing far more protection than the thin sheet metal found on most safes. For customers who want even greater strength, we offer upgrade packages that reinforce the body up to 3/8" thick and beyond.
Every safe is equipped with a solid, inflexible door starting at 3/8" thick, with options to increase that to over 1/2". Behind the outer plate, a 3/16" steel interior frame adds even more rigidity, creating a total door depth of 3". This design maximizes interior space while ensuring the door remains virtually impenetrable under attack.
Engineered for Maximum Protection
Built with integrity, reinforced for real-world protection.
Unlike most commercial gun safes that rely on cold welding to keep the exterior looking clean, Sturdy Safes use hot welds for maximum strength. We never cut corners with skip welds—every seam is solid. Even the lock assembly is reinforced with more welds than any other gun safe on the market, giving you unmatched durability and long-term security.
Sturdy Gun Safe doors are engineered to keep out prybars with deep recessing and ultra-tight tolerances. Few safes on the market come close to this level of precision. On our fire-lined models, you’ll even feel and hear the airtight ‘whoosh’ as the door seals shut—a clear sign of superior craftsmanship and security.
Sturdy Gun Safes are built with a true uni-body design—crafted from a single sheet of steel bent twelve times for maximum strength. This eliminates weak vertical seams and splicing at the door seat, creating a cleaner, stronger body that naturally forms into its own reinforced door seat. Unlike the few competitors that use uni-body construction, Sturdy goes further with two additional bends at the door seat, adding rigidity and giving the locking bolts a stronger, more secure surface to bite into. The result is a tougher, more reliable safe built to stand up to real attacks.
Sturdy Safes are built with exposed hinges for practical advantages you won’t get with hidden hinges. The door can be removed to make moving the safe easier, and when in use, it swings a full 180° without risking hinge damage from being accidentally slammed open. Unlike hidden hinges, which are purely cosmetic, exposed hinges offer function without sacrificing security—our safes use solid deadbolts to keep the door locked tight even if the hinges were removed. The only exception is our 6028-6 model, which features three permanent hinges for added support.
We use only American-made A36 to Grade 50 steel. The result is a safe built for true security, where the thickness of the steel makes all the difference.
Door Shelving
Maximize your storage with built-in door shelves—perfect for keeping smaller valuables, documents, or accessories neatly organized and within easy reach. Designed for convenience without compromising security, just be sure to keep the deadbolt’s path clear. (Note: this feature is not available on fire-lined models.
